Charlotte Mundy – voice
An arrangment of an excerpt from Robert Steijn’s (United Sorry) essay “Choreography school: Criticism, Curiosity, Creativity” published by the SNDO in “TALK/Witness/Unlocking the space that these words sit in/the unmade dance”.
This piece was performed as part of Charlotte’s graduating recital from the contemporary music program at the Manhatten School of Music, NYC. For me it makes sense that is piece should never be performed outside of the context of an educational institution given that content of the text is about the challenges of teaching and the power structures between student/teacher or parent/child. Currently there are no plans for this work to be performed again since it was in this specific context – a student graduating – which made the work resonant for me.
